In June 2022, we are planning on taking a cohort of 20-25 people to northwest Bangladesh to complete our ' Designing with dignity’ course. The course will consist of a two-week build during which time participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the importance of ethical and sustainable development, working closely with the community throughout.

Participants will spend one week working with the community to develop a new and ongoing project, and one week building a toilet facility for a family, which will include mapping the house, sourcing building materials from the local market and the construction of the toilet. We are anti-'voluntourism’ and this programme will give students and professionals a real insight into the challenges and complexities of undertaking humanitarian architecture projects.

This course is for:
-Students of design and architecture
-Built environment professionals exploring ways to embed ethics and participation in their work
-Those interested in gaining experience of international development
-Broader civil society

We welcome participants from across the world: university students, professionals at all stages of their career, as well as various sectors. We’re keen to create a diverse mix of perspectives and experience - peer-to-peer learning is a highlight of the course. No technical skills are required, rather a willingness to learn, humility and interest in humanitarian architecture.

The course is conducted in English, and we have Bangla speaking team members to provide additional support for local participants.
